Retiring in Italy

About Retiring in Italy

The American's guide to retiring, moving, and living in Italy.

Why this exists

Americans researching retirement in Italy are not short of content. They are short of reliable content. The same questions, about visas, taxes, healthcare, and where to live, get answered by forum threads, by travel writing dressed up as advice, and by pages whose real purpose is to sell a service.

Retiring in Italy is being built as a reference product instead. Guidance written for Americans specifically, structured so it can be reviewed by qualified professionals, dated so you can see when it was last checked, and honest about the many points where the only correct answer is to verify with your consulate or a licensed advisor.

How we work

  • Every guide carries a visible last reviewed date, because visa, tax, and healthcare rules change.
  • Where a specific figure or requirement needs current verification, we say so rather than publishing a number that might be stale.
  • Any illustrative or sample figure is labeled as illustrative on the page it appears.
  • Pages that are still in research are published as clearly marked stubs and kept out of search until they meet the standard.
  • We correct errors in place and note the review date change.

Who writes this

The site is in build. The profiles below are placeholders that show how authorship and expert review will be presented. We do not invent credentials, and no attorney, accountant, or other professional is presented as a reviewer until they have actually reviewed the page their name appears on.

How this will be funded

Eventually through vetted partners in categories readers genuinely need, such as immigration attorneys and cross-border accountants. Nothing of that kind is live today. There are no sponsors, no affiliate links, and no paid placements anywhere on this site. When that changes, any commercial relationship will be disclosed on the same screen as the recommendation, and it will never change what a guide says.
