Housing in Italy
Rent before you buy, and price the running costs before the sticker price.
Housing is the biggest single line in most retirement budgets and the decision that is hardest to unwind. Italian property is often cheaper than American buyers expect and older than they expect, which shifts cost from purchase to maintenance and heating.
Your visa application may also require evidence of accommodation in Italy, so housing and immigration decisions are connected.
